AN ELLIPHANT IN THE ROOM.

I told y’all that I got a new job working at MTV World.

My first day on the job they told me I had a shoot with a Swedish artist the following the day.

I was nervous. I conferred with the wonderful editorial team and the amazing MTV Iggy producers about the shoot all day, planning locations and looks and logistics. I was really nervous.

The train ride home… I texted my cousin, and told her to google the artist. As I typed the text message, it occurred to me… the artists name was: ELLIPHANT (<- this is one of her music videos). For those of you who know me personally, you know how much significance elephants have in my life. For those of you who don’t know me well, let me briefly explain:

Elephants are like my family crest. Two months before my mother passed away, she (my mom), my sister, my dad and I got matching elephant tattoos. My family collects elephant statues. My sister and I buy them in every country we visit, our friends and family have sent them to us from all over the world. They are our symbol of luck. They are the constant reminder that my mother is with me all the time.

So. My first day at my new job, and I’m nervous about the shoot I have to do the following day. But then I realize I am shooting an…. Elliphant. What could be more lucky?

The editorial came out today. Below is a screen grab. Check out the full shoot by clicking HERE.

Camelle + Peter [THE DAY AFTER]

C + P got married…

….and had a kick ass pool party the day after their wedding to celebrate with all the guests that flew in for the occasion.

Dive in. <3

The below picture cracks me up. Not sure what is going on, but I think its hilarious.

Camelle + Peter: thank you for flying me down to Florida to document your wedding. I loved getting to be there with you BEFORE, DURING and AFTER your special day. Congrats again.

haiti = heart

Just returned from Haiti.

So much more emotional that I ever thought I would be. Fell in love with the EIM (http://englishinmindinstitute.org/) students & staff, the amazing family at HC (http://www.haiti.communitere.org/), and the soul and spirit of Haiti. (my apologies that the websites listed are not actual links- you must copy and paste them into your browser window- still new to the blogging world and still learning).

Super long blog post to come introducing you to the organizations working down there that I got the privilege of documenting [ya'll need to know about the AMAZING work being done by so many passionate souls], but before the main course, here is a visual appetizer.

Haiti, I left a piece of my heart with you. But don’t worry. I’ll be back.

These are beautiful photos, Em. They evoke so much emotion.

Camelle + Peter [THE WEDDING]

C + P got married.

It was perfect. I’ll leave it at that.  I would rather just visually present C + P’s wedding day than write about it. It was so perfect, however, that it was nearly impossible to narrow down images for this bog post. So, watch out… this is a long post.

Congrats you two. May your lifetime be as perfect and lovely as the day you got married.

[*day -after wedding pool party to come in a separate post] =)

You’re amazing, Emily!!! Such a truly gifted artist. Your ability to not only SEE things differently, but also to capture them in a way that captivates the viewer on an emotional level literally blows me away. Love this blog entry!
